Block of flats in “Ljulin” residential complex, build in the last years. The architects – young couple, live in the penthouse, for sure the best place in this ant-hill. Unfortunately this social housing looks too cheap, but I appreciate the effort to bring some diversity in the uniform surrounding.

Close to the last blocks of “Ljulin” residential quarter the old man looks after his goats. Actually - not very common scene in the housing areas. I hope they don’t live in a flat!

the station

This is "Simeonovo" cable car station at the foot of Vitosha mountain. I was really astonished how close new residential buildings are growing. To see the gondels passing so close the windows and to hear all the time the motors from the station, I doubt it is a good feeling.

Residential buildings from the 30ties - "Moskovska" and "Malko Tarnovo" street, now used by the public administration. I like the curved balconies and especially the shadow-graphic on the blind wall.

rehabilitation fashion

This is a typical example of a residential block from our socialist heritage. In the last years becomes very fashionable to make additional heat insulation and balcony glazing. This blocks are very big, the apartments are private ownership, and it is impossible to organize all owners for a whole rehabilitation. And the result of this individual activity in the frame of one "community" is very funny.

Actually now are some EU-financed rehabilitation programmes for this prefabricated residential complexes and hopefully this funny slice-outlook will be changed soon.

the corner

Residential assosiation building from the 1925. Very interesting is the ambition to achieve representative character with sculpture details, something very strange for such kind of buildings. This is a detail from the corner tower - "Serdika" street
