It looks like it was burned in a fire. And the choice of using the red building as a backdrop was a GREAT one. Love the colour contrast.
Indeed, the colour contrast does it for me too. Plus the shape of what remains of the poor tree. What astounds me too, is how clean and well-maintained the block of units is.
