
Do you remember the
wrapped monument - here it is! Dedicated to the bulgarian heroes (opalchenzi) from the battles of Shipka pass (russo-turkish war 1877-78). The cech painter Yaroslav Veshin, who mainly worked in Bulgaria about the beginning of 20th century has a picture - "the Samara flag" and this monument is it's "quotation".

Great picture. I love the somber tones of the B&W, very appropriate for the monument.
I actually know this battle. I studied it back in the day when I served in the U.S. Army. Excellent example of bravery and tactics in difficult mountain terrain as I recal.
I hope it look as good in real life as it looks on your photograph!
